A Few Reasons For Your Child To Enroll In A Juvenile Remedial Driving Course

Having a teen in your family creates all new issues when they get their driver's license. Not only will you see an increase in your insurance premiums, you will also have more arguments with the child, and spend more time worrying about them. You will argue because they will want to borrow the car all the time and you will worry anytime they are out driving. Something that can help with these issues is having your child enroll and complete a juvenile remedial driving course. Here are the benefits you will notice.

Lower Insurance

Many insurance companies will give you a discount on your premiums if the child has completed an extra driving course. If the child has already received any traffic tickets, you have probably had another premium increase. However, taking a remedial driving course can reduce the number of points the insurance company considers when figuring your rates.

Defensive Driving

In addition to teaching your child about traffic laws so they can avoid violations in the future, the remedial course teaches defensive driving. Your child will be better equipped to handle other traffic and deal with the driving of others. They will learn how to watch and be more aware of what is going on around them while behind the wheel. This will help them become a better driver and should ease some of the stress you feel every time they go out the door with the keys.

Comply with Regulations

If you live in an area that requires juvenile remedial driving instruction once a young driver has accumulated a number of points, completing the course will not only be mandated by the court, but is probably the only way your child will have a suspended license returned. Failure to comply with a court order will result in a larger fine and could prevent your child from having a valid license until they reach the age of 18.

While you and your child will still argue about who gets to use the car, at least you won't have to worry as much when you do allow them to take it. If your child does not need remedial training, talk to the driving school to find out about a defensive driving course anyway. There are also courses to help them learn how to react and respond if there is a problem with their vehicle while driving. It never hurts to have your child get extra experience and training behind the wheel.
